“Despite all we’ve been through, you’re still my sweetest friend.”
So This is Love(Sweethearts), or STIL Sweethearts is a manga-inspired comic that follows Mochamo, a young antisocial scientist, who recieves a mysterious letter from a popular pretty girl out of nowhere, and to her surprise, it seems like she actually wants to get to know her! Little does Mochamo know, this girl’s motives aren’t as sugary sweet, and once all becomes clear, she changes for the worst. This project explores the bittersweet feelings of loving and hating someone who hurt you, bullying, and revenge.
Mochamo
A shy, introverted baker who loves biology, chemistry, and experimenting. Rumor has it that she’s experimented with her teeth once after they’ve been knocked out. She’s gets bullied pretty frequently not just at school, but also at work, or.. home. Her bullies love hitting up her mother’s bakery(which happens to be where she lives) whenever they can, not just to bug Mocha, but also to get some good treats. Even though Mocha’s mom embarrasses her at times, she loves her very much and just wants the best for her.
When she meets Chloe(later becoming Funfetti), she falls hard. The thought of not being seen as a sugar infested, introverted freak by someone and getting treated like a human means a lot to her, even if it came at the cost of her sanity once the truth came to her.
Funfetti
Funfetti used to be Mochamo’s friend, and now, her best friend for the rest of her life(whether she likes it or not.)
After befriending her as a joke(before Mocha would rename her), Mochamo decides to show Funfetti what she’s learned in her experiments, about artifical dyes, sugar, chemicals and how they affect human organs. Her blood vessels run with artifical dyes, and her intestines are filled with rainbow sugary goodness.
She can occassionally be seen bearing a pink, candlewax skull.
