Making the most out of things
Back in October/November of 2023 I was admitted to a hospital for reasons regarding my mental health, and during my time there I learned a lot of things. In terms of my visit, it didn’t entirely “fix” me, but it put my life on pause and gave me a moment to catch my breath. Something the nurses took note of, along with other patients, was that I was always drawing, and it was here that I discovered that crayons are actually really fun to draw with, and very accessible.
I’ve been wanting to revisit them for awhile, and I did so during a visit back at home this year. I’m used to doing my art digitally on my tablet with Clip Studio, or drawing with fancy art materials, so going back to my roots(crayons) was a way for me to get fresh air and get inspiration artistically. It gave me a chance to practice values and to experiment with my work more.
I’m not good with words, but the point of this article is to say that people can make art with anything, and that you shouldn’t be afraid to try new things.
Attached below is a recent piece I did (featuring Mochamo and Funfetti!), maybe I can make a follow up article to this with techniques :>
